Sash Windows
What are Sash Windows?
Vertically opening windows generally associated with traditional architecture and design, a sash window is created when two or more glass panels slide over each other within vertical grooves. The windows are able to slide over one another by using a counterbalance system. In modern sash windows, opening and closing is made easier through a pulley system which is contained within the window frame.
Graceful, charming and brimming with the character of the Georgian, Victorian or Edwardian eras, Sash windows are a sign of great taste and a well-kept home.

Casement Windows
What are Casement Windows?
A casement is a window that is attached to its frame by one or more hinges at the side, which means that they swing open and close just like a door, rather than sliding up and down like sash windows.. They are used singly or in pairs within a common frame, in which case they are hinged on the outside. Casement windows are often held open using a casement stay. Windows hinged at the top are referred to as awning windows, and ones hinged at the bottom are called hoppers.
Widely considered to be extremely energy efficient as their tight seal will lock the heat in and keep the cold and water out of your property, they come with their own set of challenges.
